We have identified the need for making some Improvements in a rural hospital in the town of Ekiriyankumbura in Badulla District in Sri Lanka. There is a need to build a sheltered concrete path from the OPD building to the patient units that makes ambulance entry easy. Currently patients have to walk or be carried over to the units on a grading gravel path.
This will tremendously benefit the patients as they pass between the OPD and the patient units. The project is estimated at Rs. 580,672.96 (US$3200 approx).
See here for additional photos and video pieces from the project. Also a way to help support the project.
Bhante Kusala ran this campaign on behalf of his teacher who is the Chief Prelate for South Sri Lanka. His temple and the surrounding area have been destroyed by this unexpected disaster.
In his hometown, some people ran to higher places and survived while others could not make it. They lost everything in minutes.
The area has lost electricity, so people still do not have drinking water. The lack of cell coverage and internet makes it virtually impossible to get updates. Many people haven't eaten a warm meal for days. They need to start their lives from scratch and do not have the time to mourn the deaths of their loved ones, or the loss of their property. There are serious concerns about disease outbreak.
Thanks to all the donors and well wishers, we were able to help with 10 projects.
Is it possible that philosophies and religious traditions are saying the same thing? Buddhism and the Greco Roman school of philosophy known as Stoicism have many striking similarities in both philosophy and practice. The event takes place Friday, June 5th at 8 PM EST. The Olio will be a fundraiser for the Pitabeddra village in Sri Lanka.
